Week Two: Walter Lee School

I entered late French Immersion at Walter Lee Elementary School in 1988 at the age of 11 and I don’t think I have visited this location in about 20 years on purpose. For those who knew me then, you most likely understand why, and for those who didn’t, let’s just say it was the beginning of many years of ups and downs in my life.

However, visiting this location today was sort of cleansing. I walked around the school grounds, remembered sitting on that picnic table in the pouring rain at recess, and remembered all the rest. For me, this was healing and as I start to prepare to enrol my own daughter in late French Immersion I am very certain that she will never be anything like I was at that age.

The note at the end was from the principal at the school that year…I think it says a lot.
